Keeping Kids' Hearts in the Game

Dr. Edwin "Eli" Whitney saves lives as a cardiologist at the Heart & Vascular Institute of Texas, but he'd like to save the lives of people with healthy hearts too: San Antonio's children.

Whitney, whose practice uses ProScan Reading Services, says motivating kids is the key to fixing San Antonio's societal woes. He believes in it so much that he's investing $1.5 million of his own cash in a motivational program he's been providing since last October to some of this area's most at-risk inner-city students.
